Happy Monday everyone! I’ve got exciting news for all of us London based vegans! Hackney’s got a monthly vegan food market now. Fat Gay Vegan and Hackney Downs Studios have teamed up to bring us this tasty celebration of vegan food to look forward to each month.
Last Saturday a friend and I headed over to the very first one (after their beyond successful vegan Christmas market). Tummies rumbling in anticipation we made a few rounds, admiring the colourful variety of vegan food on offer, before bracing the long queue for Big V London’s gourmet ‘facon’ cheeseburgers. Possibly the prettiest burgers I’ve ever seen, don’t you think? And pretty damn tasty too!
For dessert we had our eyes set on a couple of doughnuts, topped with pastel icing, all prepared freshly on site. To our disappointment they sold out before we’d even taken the last bites of our burgers, so we had to reconsider dessert and picked chocolate and red velvet cupcakes instead.
Next time I’ll make sure to buy the doughnuts before lunch!
You’ll find some of London’s best and most popular cafés and restaurants at the market such as Temple of Hackney with the best vegan fried chicken you’ve ever tasted, Club Mexicana with BBQ pulled jackfruit tacos, burritos, loaded cheesy nachos and beer-battered cheese fries and many more.
Go EARLY! The market’s from 11am till 5pm and some of the stalls started selling out already around 1:30. The next market is on 15th of April.
